Listies!

•I like it cold at night when I'm sleeping. But I need it to be warm to get out of bed.
•I feel burned out with bento. Plus. It's so hard for my girls to bring their bentos home from school.
•Thanksgiving is in three days and I don't have a turkey yet! ...or anything!
•I feel lost today as I don't have a planner/plan for the week. I shouldn't have moved from my domino without having my Original ready to go. Noted!
•This is my second year to no do Nanowrimo. :-(
•I'm so freaking in love with my husband. My heart has that achy hurty happy feeling to it. I still find it strange that I feel so strongly after these three years.
•I've lost 4lbs in the last month. Yay me! I am only watching my portions. Not really saying no to anything.
•Birthdays are over. Thank goodness! Glad I have so many children to celebrate...but it kills our bank. Lol
•And lastly, a quote.
Not sure of the source. Someone sent it to me via text. :-) -source, the Interweb.

Bento cheater!

I cheated and made frozen pizza rolls for bento. I understand that there's "rules" to bento and I didn't exactly break them except...my bento for today isn't super healthy. But it's better than fast food!

This week on:

My lunch/dinner menu for the week. When I make my layout for next week I'll divide the page in half as I always like to keep both lunch and dinner menus on the same page for a quick look.
The top is dinner. (Monday and Wednesdays are always a hot sandwich night due to late football, soccer and XCountry practices!)

The bottom is bento for the week. I always eat what they eat, so I plan what I would like to eat, not just what I think they'll eat. Jolie is such a picky eater. I have a hard time getting her to eat anything...but it's a work in progress! I will cater to what fruits and veggies they like, they all love cucumber, but only two like carrots. Only one of them likes strawberries! And everyone loves anything chicken or deli meat in their bento!
It's true that making bento for your kids means you love them...because its time consuming. However I like knowing what they're eating and I enjoy the fact that they get a surprise almost every day.

Lets wrap it up!

I made wraps today for lunch. They're so delicious and the perfect thing to finish up the week.

Jolie's bento is a tad sweeter since I added a granola bar.

I really liked how easy this bento was. No cooking, just assembling. It was a breeze.

I have added to my "wish list", silicone muffin cups for dividing food, plastic tooth picks and sauce cups! Hopefully I can get these this weekend.

Hello World

My mornings look like this.
I am trying to be as consistent as I can be with Bento. It's tough!! Sometimes I just don't feel like putting in my extra 40 minutes to prep lunches!

When I don't...I always end up with greasy fast food. Which I hate myself for afterwards. So I keep trying! You must always try. :-)

My bento hasn't been super pretty lately, so I have been holding off a bit on the photos.

So so so busy!

It seems like school started with a bang and we're so off...to somewhere. Lol. Life has just been so busy! Between working, school, the kiddos and their after school stuff....tsk tsk!

This week I have been attempting to focus on good things. Good thoughts for me and good thoughts towards others. This involves work, home, and the drive home!! I am polite, cheerful and encouraging at work. I make all efforts to be kind and respectful at home, especially to my husband and kids. Then there's the road rage...which is getting better!
In my personal achievements, I was able to hang out with my ex and his wife(think slutty ex-best friend that wasn't) without harming anyone! I am so proud of me! In my mind I literally can't stand her or her character...ugh! But, I did. I talked nicely and behaved like an adult!! Go figure!!

It must be my diet! Speaking of which...
Our bento has ben going well. I'm liking the process. It's hard to think of food my kids will eat and food that will taste good cold. For now, they mostly eat raw veggies and fruit. But, I'm working towards better bento!

All in all, in spite of how busy I am, I am managing life pretty well *knocks on wood*.

Hope you are too!

New beginnings!

Jolie, Kaitlyn and Daniel, first day of the 2013 year! Dan is so tall and handsome. Kaitlyn is just chill and ready to take on the 6th grade! My baby is so fine and fashionable. She's so excited to start the year. I love it!
They are so precious! I'm so grateful for smart, healthy children.

I made bento for the first day! It was really pretty easy. I made teriyaki chicken skewers, rice, nuts and fruit. I hope the kids like them. I'm eating mine while I blog this and it's pretty fabulous.

Since taking bento to work, whether or not it's relative, I have lost 3 pounds. Not to mention I feel so much cleaner on the inside. If that makes any sense at all. I feel like I'm getting accustomed to eating healthy. It's not a diet, I've made changes to how and what I eat. :-)

Happy Trails!

The beeze

Here is my favorite bento box. I splurged a good amount of money for this sucker. However, another idea behind bento is that you love the person you're creating the food for...and I totally LOVE me. Lol

It's a very sturdy box, it seals really well so things stay fresh inside. I don't refrigerate after I make my bentos. I have been really careful to wash all my food and pack meat/items that won't spoil at room temperature. This box is also microwaveable! Tote adorez that!!

My lunch is peaches & blueberries, tomatoes to go with my bacon sandwich! And cheese, crackers and broccoli for a snack.

It's a pretty big box. I have a hard time eating the whole thing in one sitting.

Anyway! High Ho!

Bento

I have also recently become obsessed with Bento Boxes. I have bought four in the last month.
My plan is to get everyone in my house to have bento through the school year.

This is one of my lunches from last week. Leftover sweet and sour meatballs with rice, pineapple chunks, tomatoes (from my garden), cucumber and red peppers.

I love having a healthy lunch. The idea behind bento is a healthy diet. You pack a protein, carb(starch), fruit and veggies.

A lot of bento is "pretty food". But it can be really practical and not that time consuming.

So far it's been a wonderful treat to myself. :-)
